Project: Policy Advocacy for Layer Welfare: Realising Ethical Farming Standards in Bali

ADSH is dedicated to advancing animal protection and eliminating speciesism. By leveraging interdisciplinary research education, policy advocacy, regulatory reform, we strive for systemic change that will have a long-term impact in eliminating speciesism. Through this holistic approach, we champion justice for all living beings—both humans and animals—within the balance of the global ecosystem.

The reliance on battery cages in Bali’s animal agriculture limits layer hen mobility and welfare, impacting more than 12 million animals.

Enhancing the welfare of laying hens in Bali through policy reforms, training for veterinary and animal husbandry students, and supporting farmers in adopting higher welfare practices. This initiative continues ADSH’s commitment since 2022 to build a sustainable ecosystem by promoting cage-free policies in the HORECA sector, ensuring strong legal protections and effective implementation of animal welfare standards, while advancing Bali’s sustainable tourism through ethical sourcing of animal-based products.
