Project: Spirit of change: Establishing a commitment from hotels and restaurants to sell safe, healthy and welfare chicken products
AWATARA (Animal Welfare Assistance, Training, Research, and Assessment) is a group of experts originating from Universitas Udayana, dedicated to advancing animal welfare through guidance, education, research, and assessment. We work closely with communities, farmers, institutions, and stakeholders to strengthen the understanding and practical application of animal welfare principles in livestock production systems.
Our project addresses the ongoing lack of awareness and implementation of animal welfare standards in animal farming, which can negatively affect animal health, productivity, and the safety of animal-derived products. Many producers still view animal welfare as secondary, rather than an essential foundation for sustainable production.
AWATARA aims to change this mindset by promoting the concept that animal welfare is inseparable from human welfare. By encouraging humane, ethical, and science-based animal management, we strive to ensure healthier animals, safer and more nutritious products, and ultimately improved well-being for people and society as a whole.
