Yayasan Lembaga Konsumen Indonesia (YLKI)
Country: Indonesia
Project: Yayasan Lembaga Konsumen Indonesia
Indonesian Consumers Organisation (Yayasan Lembaga Konsumen Indonesia – YLKI) is a non governmental organisation, established on May 11, 1973. YLKI’s existence aims to increase consumers’ awareness of their rights and obligations so they can protect themselves, their families, and the environment.
This project addresses the gap between existing poultry welfare standards under the Veterinary Control Number (VCN) system, through the integration of clearer and measurable animal welfare criteria, and rising consumer expectations across Southeast Asia, as consumer organisations increasingly advocate for broiler and egg products produced under higher animal welfare standards.
By strengthening the integration of animal welfare within the VCN framework, the project aims to improve poultry welfare practices at the production level, enhance consumer trust through greater transparency and assurance, and ultimately increase the availability of safer, higher-quality, and more ethically produced poultry products across the region.
